Miracle\u2019s Hilfsprojekt e.V., in cooperation with the Miracle Amadi Foundation, operates the Rhenium International School in Benin City, Nigeria. We enable children and young people \u2013 primarily from socioeconomically disadvantaged<\/span><\/strong> and impoverished families,<\/span><\/strong> as well as full or half orphans <\/span><\/strong>and homeless children and youth<\/span><\/strong>\u2013 to attend school.

Education<\/b><\/span> provides people with knowledge that they can use to earn a living. Moreover, it is a prerequisite for understanding one\u2019s own situation, analyzing problems, thinking creatively about solutions, and thus achieving improvements.

Miracle\u2019s Hilfsprojekt e.V. was founded on September 10, 2012 by Miracle Amadi with the goal of giving disadvantaged children and young people a perspective for their lives through education. Miracle\u2019s Hilfsprojekt e.V. is based in Munich, Germany. The office and headquarters are located at An der Steinernen Bank 1 in 93080 Pentling, Germany.<\/p>

Miracle\u2019s Hilfsprojekt e.V. is a nonprofit organization that is exempt from corporate and trade taxes and is authorized to issue donation receipts.<\/p>

The founder, Miracle Amadi, together with the association\u2019s board and additional volunteers, takes care of fundraising as well as necessary correspondence and other office tasks to ensure smooth operations at the headquarters. In addition, Mrs. Amadi leads the board of the NGO in Nigeria that is responsible for running the school, acting as a bridge between the countries. She also supervises the volunteers in Nigeria and Germany.<\/p>

The association has various sources of income. On one hand, these are regular donations in the form of membership fees, sponsorships, or general donations. On the other hand, we also continually receive one-time donations, often following public outreach such as events, newsletters, and information shared on social media. We have also placed donation collection boxes at many businesses, mainly in Regensburg, which are emptied as needed. Lastly, there are funds from fundraising efforts; for example, we contact companies or organizations such as those involved in German development aid, with whom we have been cooperating for many years. In the case of German development aid \u2013 in our case, the Schmitz Foundations \u2013 not only must extensive applications be completed, but it must also be demonstrated in a detailed and transparent manner how provided funds are used and that all associated requirements are met.
The fact that Miracle\u2019s Hilfsprojekt e.V. uses donated funds conscientiously and limits administrative expenses to what is unavoidably necessary is attested by the donation seal (Spendensiegel) awarded to us by the German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI).\u00a0 <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The NGO Miracle Amadi Foundation (MAF) was founded on February 22, 2016 by Mrs. Miracle Amadi. This NGO is our central partner organization in Nigeria and operates the school, since authorities like the Nigerian Ministry of Education require an in-country point of contact.<\/p>

In 2007 Mrs. Amadi decided to help children and young people in need in Nigeria. Following the motto \u201cGive a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime,\u201d Mrs. Amadi started working an additional job at another hospital alongside her main hospital job, often doing early and late shifts in the same day. Using her entire annual vacation at once, she traveled to Nigeria to buy a piece of land, and then each year traveled again to advance the construction of the school \u2013 this was the birth of the Rhenium International School.<\/p>

Within 4 years, Mrs. Amadi managed to build the school building far enough that classes could start in 2011. One year later, she founded the association Miracle\u2019s Hilfsprojekt e.V. to expand and maintain school operations.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Since 2015, Mrs. Amadi has been receiving rent for providing the school building, but she often waived large portions or even the entire rent. Long-term, the goal is for the Miracle Amadi Foundation to also become the owner of the school. All new land purchases and investments are already being made by the NGO and <\/span>belong to it. Everything newly built on the school premises currently remains Mrs. Amadi\u2019s private property and is thus also paid for by her.<\/span>

The current school rental contract \u2013 approved by the members\u2019 general assembly \u2013 is between Mrs. Amadi and the Nigerian NGO, since the NGO is the charitable legal entity of the school. Of course, Mrs. Amadi does not derive any inappropriate economic benefit from the rent. To ensure this, the NGO engaged an external assessor who provided a report on the value of the school and an appropriate rental rate.

In addition to the lack of education, unemployment is one of Nigeria\u2019s major problems. It has become clear that even when young people get the opportunity to attend school, they often find no jobs or training opportunities after graduation and thus remain mired in poverty. To counter this lack of prospects, MHP (Miracle\u2019s Hilfsprojekt) and MAF decided to build a vocational training facility, the Rhenium Training Center. There, graduates of the Rhenium International School, as well as other interested individuals, can learn a trade after completing their schooling. The Rhenium Training Center was completed in 2022. At the current time, training positions are offered primarily in the area of textiles and tailoring. Another problem in Nigeria is the structural inequality between men and
women. In areas such as unemployment, domestic violence, and
human trafficking, Nigerian women are particularly hard hit. To counter such issues, the female members of the Miracle Amadi Foundation founded the \u201cWomen Wing\u201d at the beginning of 2023. This sub-organization of MAF aims to educate women on topics like domestic or sexual violence and economic independence.
It serves not only as a contact point for its many members to talk about problems and concerns, but also offers women and their children safe shelter in acute cases of domestic violence, where they can stay temporarily.
Under the leadership of the chief of police of Benin City, who is also involved in the Women Wing, a subgroup specifically supports women affected by forced prostitution and human trafficking. \n\nWith Mrs. Amadi as the first chairperson of the NGO, she is also part of the board meetings of the German association, to ensure continuous exchange between the nonprofit organizations and to coordinate the school\u2019s goals. There is a constant exchange of documentation and receipts with the school. Funds are transferred via the bank to the Nigerian NGO, but not until expenses are due. The NGO provides the money for school operations. In addition to Miracle, board members or other members of the association regularly travel at their own expense to the school in Nigeria to observe the situation on site and conduct impact evaluation for the German association. Checks are carried out through various processes to verify that the money is actually used for its intended purpose and in the amount that was transferred. As mentioned, money is only transferred to Nigeria when there is an actual need \u2013 for example, upcoming teacher salaries or a broken school bus that needs repair. Teacher salaries are always transferred directly from bank account to bank account, which means the flow of money can always be tracked. It\u2019s different for money that is withdrawn in cash: for that, the school\u2019s finance staff maintains a cash book with complete receipts, which is provided to MHP on a monthly basis. Large investments are always made on site by Mrs. Amadi herself to avoid corruption \u2013 usually accompanied by representatives of MHP. To ensure unbiased oversight, a financial auditor in Nigeria reviewed the past years and found no irregularities.
